Rishi Sunak has been chosen as the new leader of the UK’s Conservative Party and the country’s first prime minister from a British-Asian background.
Mr Sunak said bringing his party and the UK together was his "utmost priority".
He becomes the UK’s third Prime Minister in less than two months. Boris Johnson resigned after a series of scandals. His successor Liz Truss was in office for just 45 days, after her plans for tax cuts and unfunded borrowing led to turmoil on financial markets.
Mr Sunak, who is a practising Hindu, worked in finance before becoming an MP and is thought to be one of the richest members of parliament. His wife is the daughter of Indian billionaire Narayan Murty.
